T-MOBILE CENTER
The T-Mobile Center project involved the installation of the landscape and irrigation systems for a large arena in downtown Kansas City, MO. Along with streetscape and landscape installation, other work Hermes performed included topsoil install and final grading of the green areas on site. The project was particularly challenging due to a compressed production schedule and the urban nature of the site, which allowed for almost no staging area on site and created the need for traffic control on streetscape areas, where there was a non-stop flow of vehicles. Today the T-Mobile Center is Kansas City’s top large arena for concerts, sports, and other events.
SANTA MARTA RETIREMENT COMMUNITY
This landscape installation project at a large retirement community transitioned seamlessly into an ongoing maintenance contract. The scale of the project required phasing, while the Hermes maintenance division took over to keep new plants and turf healthy. The property includes over 600,000 square feet of turf and 25,000 square feet of perennial and shrubs. Maintenance involves all areas of this extensive property, including main building common areas as well as all the surrounding private villas, which are individual assisted living residences.
ROSANA SQUARE SHOPPING CENTER
Home to both national chains and local businesses, Rosana Square Shopping Center in Overland Park, Kansas serves thousands of customers daily. From bars and restaurants to banking, from crafts to groceries, this shopping center is a one stop shop for many of the area’s residents. Since 2006 Hermes has been caring for the landscape at this busy center. The parking lot islands are filled with bursting color for much of the year, while the ornamental trees and soft grasses add both height and texture to the landscape. The seasonal pots feature new plantings every few months, adding visual interest with every new visit.
WEST END APARTMENTS
These luxury apartments are the belle of the recent Lenexa city center projects. The creators of this beautiful complex knew the landscape would be key to attracting tenants to the property. Hermes worked with the architects to create a landscape plan that incorporates numerous ornamental and native grasses, along with roses and numerous shrub varieties, layering textures, colors, and shapes to stunning effect. Terraced stone retaining walls maximize space, and, coupled with a backdrop of large shade trees, add height to the layering effect. The final product is a gorgeous landscape that will become increasingly beautiful as it matures.
