What is the culture like?

What are the steps of the recruiting process?

1. Complete Application Online or In Person.
2. Phone Interview Conducted
3. Onsite interview with hiring manager
4. Offer extended and a start date is confirmed

I submitted my application but haven’t heard back. What is the status of my application?

It is our goal to get back to all candidates in a timely manner. However, if you have not heard back from us, please do not hesitate to email our HR department at [email protected].  This mailbox is checked several times daily. 

Where should I park?

All team members should park on the east property line behind our production building.

Who should I see on my first day?

On your first day you will be greeted by your hiring manager and he/she will show you around and introduce you to your new team. Our HR Generalist will set up a time to complete your new hire orientation to assist you in completing your new hire documents and familiarize you with common questions and answers about your role and the company. 

 Our goal is to make your first day and onboarding experience fun, fearless and easy. 

What is my start time?

Team members are dispatched at 7:00 a.m. Our expectation is for you to arrive at the office by 6:45 a.m. to be prepared for departure.

What should I wear?

All team members are required to comply with our dress code, consisting of a Hermes shirt, jeans or khakis and work boots. Shirts are to be tucked and if hats are worn, they must have a Hermes logo.

Who should I see for uniform items?

All uniform items can be purchased from your manager. Please don’t hesitate to contact your supervisor for assistance.

Is there a cost for uniform items?

New team members will receive $20.00 in Hermes Bucks to assist in the purchase uniform items. All uniforms are provided to you at a very discounted rate. Each team member is eligible to earn Hermes Bucks to put towards uniform needs throughout the year.

When and how do I get paid?

Our pay period runs from Wednesday to Tuesday each week. Our paychecks are issued every Friday and checks are ready for pickup after 5:00 p.m.

Do you have direct deposit?

At the moment, we do not have direct deposit. All checks are printed checks.

Who do I call if I am running late?

If you are running late you must call your manager or supervisor.

Do I get a lunch break?

Yes, all team members receive a 45-minute lunch break, which, includes travel time. We suggest that you pack a lunch from home in order to help with the time constraints.

If I don’t have landscaping experience, will I have training prior to being on my own?

Absolutely! All team members receive training to prepare them for their roles. We provide ongoing training to all of our team members and mentors to our new team members to support ongoing learning and create a successful people.   

What types of positions are available?

We have opportunities in the following trades: Commercial Landscape Construction, Residential Landscape, Hardscape, Irrigation, Commercial Maintenance and Mechanics.

Is there room for advancement?

Absolutely! If you have an interest in growing with the company we will create a roadmap for your success.

Do you have year-round work available?

Yes.  For those team members who demonstrate good attendance, have a strong work ethic, are a team player and have a good on the job safety record there is most definitely an opportunity for year round employment. 

Am I required to have a driver’s license?

NO. Our Crew Member positions do not require a driver’s license, HOWEVER, our Crew Leaders and above are required to have a valid driver’s license to operate company vehicles. Crew Leaders and above positions are eligible for an increased rate of pay.

Does the company celebrate their team members?

Yes! At Hermes, we love to not only celebrate our people, but celebrate with our people. We host a variety of events over the year to show our appreciation for our amazing team members, in addition to hosting a few annual award events to recognize our outstanding team members.

What should I expect from my supervisor?

You should expect your supervisor to be an excellent coach, champion and leader. Your supervisor is there to provide guidance and support to you and answer any questions you have. Their goal is to help you transition into your new position with confidence and sustain a healthy culture within your team.

Are benefits available for my position?

We do offer benefits that vary based on position. Our HR representative is happy to discuss this you during your interview.
